This programm is designed for indexing a pattern after deconvolution by
EFLECH. There are some remarkable differences to other indexing programs:
- The output
*.par
-file(s) of EFLECH contain statistic
information (full covariance matrice) of all peak parameters. INDEX uses
this information for individual weighting of peak position errors and
fault peak penalties.
- It does not use triplets/quartets of reflections. Unlike mostly
of older programs, it performs a full search over all possible
unit cells! In every case, the best solution according to random errors
of peak positions etc. will be given.
As an example, the indexing of the triclinic K2Cr2O7 pattern is given.
The computing times are as follows (on my Pentium Pro 200):
- one second for cubic
- some minutes for tetragonal and hexagonal
- about two hours for every of orthorhombic, monoclinic and triclinic
system.
For the EFLECH run prior to use of INDEX, I recommend usage of TEST=ND4U.
