- An important aspect of this is purity, since indexing programs don’t like to struggle with impurity lines, and several will not accept them at all.
- Some suggestions from Robin for checking sample purity:

- Optical (polarising) microscope
- Density analysis in a gradient column
- Electron microscopy and diffraction of selected crystallites
- And, if time permits, see whether properties are changing with time
