gallery of my old paintings ©Steffen Weber, 1984-1992 |
When I was younger I
used to paint poster-like paintings using Gouache (water
paint). I gave up painting in 1994. I did not keep any of
my paintings for myself. Only of six of them I took
photos, which I now scanned and put here. The quality of
the photos and therefore of the scans is not very good.
The flashlight is partly reflecting. I painted other
ones, among which were Albert Schweitzer (humanist and
physician) and Heinrich Schliemann (discoverer of Troy)
and others. The choice of my motifs was largely
influenced by my interest in archeology, history and
sciences. As a teenager I read around 200 books, mainly
novels, on these topics. My interest in science fiction
eventually made me study at the university. Although
crystallography is not pure physics I chose it because it
is related to physics. Crystallography was the most
attractive of the possible alternatives, since it is
equally related to physics, chemistry, mineralogy and
mathematics. During the last years I have been channeling my graphical ambitions into writing computer graphics related software. Maybe I will pick up painting again when I will have more time. |
