Ortep-3 for Windows is supplied as a single zip file ORT_SETUP.ZIP, which contains the setup program SETUP.EXE. Running this program will install the following files into the requested directory : ORTEP32.EXE - the 32-bit executable (Windows 95/98/ME/NT/2000/XP) SALFLIBC.DLL - DLL required for 32-bit executable (into c:\windows\system for 95/98/ME and into c:\winnt for NT/2000/XP) ORTEP3.PDF - PDF program manual RGBCOLS.DEF - RGB colour definitions (to modify and add colours) ATOMCOLS.DEF - to define colours for all atomic species ORTEP3.ICO - icon for Ortep-3 for Windows ORTEP3.INI - parameter initialisation file (default version) README - this file +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ INSTALLATION +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ After running the setup program you will need to do the following : (a) set the environment variable ORTEP3DIR to point to the location of ORTEP3.INI If you do not know how to set environment variables on your computer (it is done differently for every version of Windows !!) then read the WinGX FAQ page about this topic =============================================================================== Ortep-3 for Windows has been extensively tested on most Windows platforms. It requires at least 8Mb RAM memory, and an IBM-compatible PC (486DX2-66 or better is recommended).
