Randy Israel was born in Grave (The Netherlands) on the 20th of June 1968. In 1986 he graduated from his pre-university education at the "Kruisheren Kollege" in Uden. Then he started his study at the Academy for Analytical Chemistry (HLO) situated in Etten-Leur. During this study he did some practical training at Organon International B.V., the Pharma division of AKZO Int., situated in Oss (NL) and Billiton Research B.V., which doesn't exist anymore but was a metal division of SHELL and situated in Arnhem (NL). In 1990 he graduated and went to Utrecht for starting his study in Chemistry at the University of Utrecht. He got his Masters in November 1992 with Chemical Crystallography (Prof.dr. J. Kroon) as main subject. From that time on Randy is working, as a PhD-student, at the Department of Inorganic Chemistry (Crystallography) of the Catholic University of Nijmegen, under the supervision of Prof.dr. P. Beurskens. He is working on the development of methods to solve 'difficult' structures, such as modulated compounds, supramolecular compounds etc., by means of x-ray crystallography. During this work he participated in several courses like:
He has presented results of his work on several national and international conferences:
